Assistant Warehouse Dispatcher

Purpose of Position

The Assistant Warehouse Dispatcher is responsible for assisting the oversight of Gulf Winds warehouse Operations of ILA mule drivers.  The areas of responsibility include but are not limited to dispatch, safety, maintenance, customer communication, GWI systems, processes and procedures. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, multi-tasking, independent thinking and superior communications ability.  This position will report to the Warehouse Dispatcher Lead.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by Warehouse Dispatch Manager.

  • Assist in dispatching daily workload to ILA mule drivers and accommodating warehouse workload.
  • Responsible for communicating with ILA mule drivers when needed.
  • Monitor exports and follow up with mule drivers to ensure containers are turned in before cut-off.
  • Monitor dashboard to eliminate additional costs.
  • Assign Pre-gate pin numbers.
  • Monitor Fleetmatics and alert dispatchers of drivers when there are extended idle times.
  • Monitor GW yard reports for per diem containers or missed deliveries and communicate with warehouse operations and customer service to terminate per diem containers.
  • Responsible for returning equipment to the correct location in a timely manner.
  • Have working knowledge of Maintenance Repair System and stay current with any changes and/or updates that are made.
  • Provide excellent customer service while speaking to internal departments as well as mule drivers.
  • Ensure all current information is input into CMS/Safety system/ Fleetmatics.
  • Cross-train with dispatchers to cover workload distribution in the event another warehouse dispatcher is out of the office.
  • Promptly and effectively solve any issues that may arise with equipment, delays at port, etc. through trouble tickets, phone calls or emails to GW staff.
  • Responsible for completing any task that may be assigned to service our operations and customers at the highest level (examples of this could include: updating info on 3<sup>rd</sup> party website, entering orders, etc.)

Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Organizational skills.
  • Must possess an amiable personality with the communication & writing skills.
  • Must be a self starter and willing to work with minimal supervision.
  • The candidate must be able to interpret Gulf Winds International, Inc.
  • Must be computer literate with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Logistics experience preferred
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred 1-3 years of Logistics experience
  • Must be dependable and able to work independently
